Violeta Vigo
Violeta Vigo is the Executive Director of Asociación Los Andes de Cajamarca (ALAC, Association The Andes of Cajamarca), an organization that was created as part of Yanacocha’s Social Responsibility program.
For over two decades, the organization has worked towards institutional strengthening, involving public officials, grassroots organizations, and citizens, to contribute to sustainable development in the mining region of Cajamarca, Peru.
The role that ALAC plays in many cases is that of articulator and promoter. It has managed to form alliances with various development protagonists, through which synergies are generated between the public and private sectors.
Governance Action Hub spoke with Violeta Vigo about ALAC’s governance-related work and what needs to be done to achieve greater development impact in the region of Cajamarca.
