In the Coropontain community in the mining corridor of Colombia, the lack of energy presents obstacles to accessing technology, communication, and basic amenities such as refrigeration.
“This implies that it is very complicated for us to do our daily chores and suddenly have access to communication, the Internet and all that,” says Jarly Villalobo, a member of the community who spoke with the Governance Action Hub at a co-creation workshop for local Energy Communities in Santa Marta.
Jarly shared the significant impact this has on her community and discussed how taking steps to enhance energy access can be sustainable to improve living conditions in the long run.
